Yacht Coatings Technical Insight Course

Yacht Coatings Technical Insight: A programme for those requiring a deeper understanding of coatings. RMCI.

Following our successful pilot courses in the UK and Mallorca in 2023, MSA (Marine Surveying Academy – a division of the International Institute of Marine Surveying) is delighted to announce that regular Yacht Coatings Technical Insight (YCTI) courses are being organised for those involved with, or who touch, the large yacht and superyacht coatings business.

There are current market challenges for new build and refit yards caused by increased demand, reduced timescales, poorly qualified workforces, and the cost of complaints and litigation. The YCTI course is a subset of the successful Registered Marine Coatings Inspector (RMCI) course and qualification, and the programme tackles those issues head-on.

Who is this course for?

This is a two-day in-person course, delivered by knowledgeable and experienced tutors. It’s aimed at:

  • Vessel managers and captains
  • Client representatives
  • Project managers in new build and refit yards
  • Applicator managers
  • Paint company representatives
  • General and technical expert coatings and marine surveyors
  • Flag state inspectors
  • Marine underwriters and insurers.

It’s a course for those who wish to have a deeper technical understanding of large and superyacht coatings, their management and the coatings project process in general without becoming an expert RMCI.

What you’ll learn

In brief, this course sets out to:

  • Provide a greater understanding of coatings in the large and superyacht market
  • Improve the management of coatings projects
  • Improve communication and relationships
  • Reduce complaints for all parties
  • Support all those involved in the coating project.

The cost of the course is £895.00 per delegate (no VAT) and included in the price is a detailed handbook with the technical information discussed in the course. There will also be an online Knowledge Quiz at the end of the course and upon completion, a Certificate of Attendance will be awarded.
