Professional Qualification in Marine Corrosion

How much do you really know about marine corrosion? The IIMS Professional Qualification in Marine Corrosion will take your understanding and knowledge to another level.

Corrosion in the marine environment is one of the most dangerous issues facing those who are involved with maritime trade; yet beyond the basics, it remains little understood by so many from marine surveyors to inspectors and vessel owners. If left undetected, the results are often catastrophic.

Last year IIMS rolled out a distance learning Marine Corrosion Professional Qualification under the tutelage of UK corrosion expert, Dr Mike Lewus.

There are up to ten modules available for study, seven of which need to be passed to gain the qualification. There are four mandatory core units.

The qualification is available by remote learning. The tutor will broadcast 3-hour sessions live for each module during October and November, but these may be watched on catch-up video if work commitments or time zone differences make live study impractical. There is an online multiple-choice test at the end of each module which can be taken at a time to suit the learner.

Marine corrosion is a complex topic.

Let IIMS and Dr Mike Lewus help you make sense of it.
